The F.L.U.D.D, aka FLUDD or Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device (pronounced flood), is Mario's water pack in Super Mario Sunshine. Some say that the FLUDD is the equivalent of Luigi's Poltergust 3000. FLUDD first appears in Super Mario Sunshine, when Mario finds it near a strange salesman, and he was invented by E. Gadd. In this game FLUDD helps Mario in many ways, including helping with his acrobatics and cleaning up "Goop". FLUDD also is Mario's sidekick and Guide in this game, and he has intelligence and emotions. Parts of FLUDD also appear in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, and FLUDD heads also appear in Mario Power tennis to clean goop off of the Delfino Plaza Court. He also appears in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 as a "water spraying item", and he is also a move that Mario can use in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

- When F.L.U.D.D. scans Mario in Super Mario Sunshine, a little window in the bottom left corner shows short gameplay clips of various Mario games, such as Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, and Super Mario 64.
- F.L.U.D.D.'s name is a play on the word "flood", meaning a large mass of water that often causes chaos in a public area. It is also possible that his name is derived from that of Robert Fludd, an inventor who designed (but never actually made or released) many water pumps.
